Smoothies are a quick breakfast option. However, in order to make sure we are starting the day off well, we need to ensure we are building a good quality smoothie! Hint: an all fruit smoothie can use a few adjustments! When making a smoothie, always include a source of protein and healthy fat. These two additions to your smoothie will help your body to avoid any sugar crashes later in the day! In addition to these adjustments, stray away from using fruit juice in your smoothie….plain, unsweetened plant-based milks or water are great options!
Simple Collagen Smoothie
- ¼ ripe avocado or 2 tsp coconut oil
- 1-1 ½ cup frozen berries
- 1 cup almond milk
- 2 scoops Vital Proteins collagen powder
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- Optional: 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia or honey, to taste
- Place everything into a blender and blend until smooth. (Add more almond milk to achieve desired consistency.) Enjoy!
